And as if that wasn’t reason enough to come hang, our good friend Patsy Palmer is in town and handling sound selection for all you chill heads out there looking maximize your Sunday vibes. See you Sunday.

This weekend we’re back at it again with some help from our friends at Pabst Blue Ribbon. Every other Sunday 2pm-7pm join us for the chillest sounds on the beach and some proper food/drink specials. This week we got our homie Alf Alpha sound selecting some classic 80’s 90’s Hip-Hop along with classic jazz and reggae tracks. Everyone just wants to relax on Sundays and we’re no different over here at The Waterfront. Come kick it with us and catch a vibe!
Our neighbors at the World Surf League are having the season opener contest at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast in Australia. And as luck would have it, Snapper mornings just so happen to coincide with Waterfront happy hour 3pm - 6pm pst. So lucky us and lucky you we don’t have to wake up, stay up, or do anything crazy for this competition. Suits us just fine. So as the contest runs (swell/weather dependent) we’ll be streaming with fingers crossed for an exciting final. Plenty of drink and food specials on offer while ya watch!
Really stoked to have skateboarding legend Laura Thornhill coming through tonight for our fundraiser party with the GIRLSWIRL crew. Hear Laura talk story about what’s its like to be a lifelong skateboarder and why girls rule for all the right reasons. Event kicks off at 6pm and goes till 10pm.
Professional and amateur skaters from Los Angeles and beyond convened at the Handball Courts in Venice Beach on Saturday to showcase their creative skills and compete against each other and LA’s finest at Red Bull WallRide 2019. Red Bull WallRide is the junction where skateboarding meets lifestyle as riders hit a series of wallride-based features. Brazilian skateboarding sensation Pedro Barros turned in the most impressive sessions on Sunday to take home the inaugural Red Bull WallRide title. After party was at The Waterfront but we were enjoying ourselves too much and forgot to take pictures of that. Congrats to Venice locals and friends Leandre Sanders and Haden McKenna for taking home the “People’s Choice” award.
Starting this weekend we’re implementing a new vibe called Easy Sunday’s with some help from our friends at Pabst Blue Ribbon. Every Sunday 3pm-9pm join us for the chillest sounds on the beach and some proper food/drink specials. We’re teaming up with our friends over Nicaragua Craft Beer Co. and Bones Surf Co. to raise some funds for a good cause! Waves For Water is a great project originally started by surfer Jon Rose. Their mission is simple; get clean water to every person who needs it. They work on the front lines to provide access to clean water through the distribution of portable water filters, the digging and renovating of wells, and the construction of rainwater harvesting and storing systems in places where groundwater is not accessible.
Next Tuesday March 5th from 6pm to 9pm we’ll be slanging super bomb tacos for $3 each alongside frosty ‘Panga Drops’ brews for $3 dollars each as well. Also offering $15 beer buckets as well! And thanks to Bones Surf Co we’ll have two custom boards to raffle off along with a $250 gift certificate to Banks Journal with all proceeds going to Waves For Water’s clean water efforts! Please join us!
The greater Los Angeles region came out in droves for our surf film premiere with Stab last week. Shaper and eventual winner Britt Merrick and the Channel Islands crew made their way down from Santa Barbara, plenty notable international pro surfers and local legends produced a good showing. By the time we played the film, 30 minutes later than promised, the body heat radiated above the concrete floors outside at the Waterfront Venice. It was a packed house. The viewers sat in a silence only broken by the occasional laugh or cheer at the undeniable charm of Mick Fanning and his shredding on all 11 murdered-out epoxies.
After the film, Stab did a short Q-and-A with the winning shaper, Britt Merrick of Channel Islands. He told us after the height and weight we provided for our mystery surfer, he dipped into the WSL surfer stats and quickly put together that the surfer was, in fact, 3x time World Champ, Mick Fanning. He's a sharp man with a majestic beard with a noble family surfboard shaping lineage. He also knows how to use the internet.
The crowd lingered for a bit, we finished our beverages and spilled out north/south/east and not west of the Venice Boardwalk continuing our nights in a similar boozy fashion. Good times as usual.
It’s that time of year again and we’re proud to be rooting for the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII (53). Typically we’d take the neutrality role of Switzerland with a game like the Super Bowl but c’mon ya’ll it’s the Los Angeles Rams! You know we gotta keep it local! Come root with us or against us this Sunday 12pm to 10pm.
Houseplants returns to Venice with a very intimate event in our back patio featuring a mix of eclectic DJ’s. The event kicks off at 5pm and continues through the evening. This is an intimate event and capacity in our jungle is limited! Don’t hibernate on tickets as they will fly fast!
What do you do when you’re a new restaurant / bar in Venice and everywhere else is charging a cover and offering a set menu for New Year’s Eve? You do the exact opposite and invite the neighborhood with no cover charge, offer happy hour till midnight, and let people eat what they want. To celebrate our first New Year’s Eve on the beach we’re offering an alternative to the other programs out there. Something casual where you and your friends can come without any pressure. It’s a neighborhood New Year’s Eve and you’re invited!
New Year’s Day were starting it off properly with a straight forward Waterfront brunch including all the necessities. That means bottomless mimosa’s 10 am to 12 pm, live football for the fans, and all your favorite breakfast and lunch plates. It’s Los Angeles and therefore very likely to be a beautiful first day of the year here on the beach. Plenty of ocean views and good vibes to be had so please make plans to join us in starting the new year off right.
We got to celebrate a close friend of ours 50th trip around the sun last Saturday here at The Waterfront. It’s Jake’s vision and tenacity that got the Waterfront up and running in its current form. Plenty of good drinks and great stories we shared by all and of course as usual, Jake’s closing speech was brilliant.

Last Saturday the WATERFRONT HAD THE PLEASURE OF hostING Grlswirl’s young girls “how to skate day” event teaching JUST OVER A dozen young GIRLS the basics of riding a skateboard. GrlSwirl is a modern-retro all-girl skateboarding organization that perpetuates inclusivity and stoke within its 120 female member base. Good vibes, smiles, some giggling and plenty of stoke were abundant throughout the morning. Very pleased to be working with GrlSwirl on other future happenings so stay tuned on our Instagram or head over to their site to keep up on the latest.

We had a blast opening day with friends and family last week. We’ve barely been open a week yet this night seems like forever ago already. I guess we’ve already had so much fun so it seems hard to remember which day was our best, they just keep getting better. Thanks to our friend Ryan Hack for shooting the pictures and great video below.
